February Brand of the Month
I can’t believe it’s already February! One of our dogs recently completed his third training course, and we’re slowly but surely moving up in the obedience ranks. My other small business, Mile High Paws, had its first successful event of 2026, and I’m gearing up for another one this weekend! On top of that, I have my first essay due in a week and will be boarding two of my regular clients this weekend. It’s definitely a busy season—but I’m excited for everything ahead!
Brand of the Month: Open Farm
We currently feed Teddy and Apollo Open Farm kibble, and when Bart transitions from puppy food to adult food, he’ll be eating Open Farm as well!
Right now, Teddy is eating their Venison & Ancient Grains kibble, and we like to rotate his flavors with every new bag to keep things interesting. Apollo is currently on their veterinary-formulated Healthy Weight recipe since he has a few pounds to lose.
Do Some Good
One of the many reasons we love Open Farm is its commitment to sustainability and animal welfare.
All of the protein used in their products is ethically sourced. Their cattle are humanely raised, and their fish are wild-caught. You won’t find antibiotics or added hormones in any of their protein sources. Their cattle are also fed nutritious diets, and all protein sources are third-party certified to animal welfare standards through organizations such as Global Animal Partnership (GAP) and Certified Humane.
Going the Extra Mile
Have you ever scanned the QR code on an Open Farm product? If not, I highly encourage you to do so the next time you visit your local pet boutique!
Open Farm provides complete transparency by allowing you to see:
The geographic origin of each product’s ingredients
An overview of each ingredient’s benefits
Safety test results for every product
Third-party ingredient certifications
The carbon emissions associated with each product
How cool is that?
From dry food and fresh food to freeze-dried meals, bone broth, and supplements, you can build your dog’s bowl from top to bottom using only Open Farm products—and that’s exactly why they’re our Brand of the Month and the highlight of our very first blog post!
